in WV with Ginny and Tracy

For the past two years Ginny and Tracy have been welcoming folks to their home in the hills of West Virginia for intensive work with singing. They live near Glenville, West Virginia in the village of Tanner, about 2 hours north of Charleston and 2 hours south of Morgantown. Students stay in a private guesthouse that is spacious and comfortable. There is even a spa on the surrounding deck where students may relax in privacy under the stars.

Ginny sends out a personal questionaire in advance to tailor the class to each student. There are never more than two students such as two friends from Cincinnati, two from The Netherlands, two from the US west coast, a father and son from Tennessee, couples from many states. Even with the two students there will be individual time spent answering separate needs.

Six to seven hours each day are spent listening to each other, learning how to listen to treasured old recordings and modern day singers, critiquing the different singers, working on finding individual singing ranges, sharpening harmony singing by ear, and finding our own voices within the wide range of traditional southern American music that Ginny and Tracy represent.

Ginny and Tracy furnish breakfast and lunch according to students' dietary needs. A really fun part of the whole experience for all concerned has been the dinners prepared by students. There have been culinary delights from many cultures and geographic regions served up in style! Before students leave West Virginia, Ginny and Tracy try to connect the visitors with the widely available musical talent in central West Virginia. They visit an older musician in his/her home, join a small local jam, or take students to a festival nearby.
